Lake Zegrze, just a short drive from Warsaw, has a way of surprising you. On a warm July evening, we set out for what we thought would be another leisurely cruise — and came back with photographs that looked like they'd been painted.
The secret? Timing and a telephoto lens. As the sun began its descent toward the horizon, the light shifted from golden to deep amber, then to a cascade of pinks and purples that seemed almost too vivid to be real. The telephoto brought the sun close, compressing the atmosphere and saturating every colour until the scene looked almost surreal.
We let the boat drift. There's something meditative about being on open water at dusk — the soft sound of lapping waves, the way the light dances across the surface, the sense that time has slowed to match the pace of the sunset.
Even two jet-skis cutting across the horizon couldn't break the spell. If anything, they added a touch of life to the composition — proof that Zegrze is a living, breathing place, even as the day winds down.
